Louis Anthony "Lou" Friedel died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 after his battle with renal cell carcinoma. He was born in Oneonta, New York on February 6, 1930, the son of the late Louis and Louise Friedel. He attended college in Oneonta and served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Robins Air Force Base. As a civilian at Robins, he was a finance officer and retired as the budget officer in 1986.
As a member of First Baptist Church, he was a member of the Baracca-Chapman Sunday School Class, served as a deacon, former church treasurer, and on many committees.
Mr. Friedel is survived by his soul-mate of 56 years, Barbara; daughters, Judy Clayton (Nyal), Kelly Friedel and Rachel Berry (Kurt); granddaughters, Hannah and Lauren Clayton, Katie Strickland and Kalyn Newman (Josh) "Papa, we love you!"; sisters, Norma Hyatt (Gordon) and Paula Van Loan; and brother, Walter Friedel.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Thursday, April 21, 2011 at First Baptist Church with the Dr. Bob Setzer officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 511 High Place, Macon, GA 31201.
