She was an accomplished seamstress, and for many years, owned and operated The Sew Inn, a fabric store in Morgantown, WV. There, she sold designer fabrics and shared her love of sewing by teaching sewing and tailoring classes. Elaine was very active in many civic organizations, and served in numerous community leadership roles throughout her life. She was recognized for her service as president of the Officers' Wives' Club in Ft. Lewis, WA. She was an active member of many organizations such as the symphony guild, garden clubs, and book clubs. She enjoyed serving in a volunteer capacity at organizations such as The Red Cross, the local Clothes Closet, the Food Bank, and various senior organizations.
