Lois Belva Butler, born September 24, 1914, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Bolingreen Nursing Home in Macon at the wonderful age of 99. Lois was born in Wilkinson County and raised in the Nicklesville Community. She was the daughter of the late Charles Oscar and Belva Billue Butler. She graduated from Wilkinson County High School where one of her favorite activities was playing basketball. She moved to Macon in 1941. She was a self-employed beautician, won the Macon/Bibb Home Demonstration Club District Home Maker of the Year award in 1958, and was active in her community and church. She was a loving mother and devoted wife and will be missed by all who knew her. At the time of her death, she was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, George Melvin Butler. She is survived by her four children: daughter, Joyce Butler Drew of Macon; son, Charles Elvis Butler (Mary) of Macon; son, George Ronnie Butler (Debbie) of Cochran; and daughter, Millie Butler Shealy (Ty Hines) of Macon. Lois was a loving grandmother to two grandsons, Kyle Butler (Ronda) of Macon and Corey Butler (Lindsay) of Thomasville, Georgia. She also had three great-grandchildren, Brannon Butler of Macon and Brooks and Sage Butler of Thomasville, Georgia. Lois is survived by one sister, Mary Myrick of Americus as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00PM until service time. Flowers are welcome but memorial contributions may be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204 or to Magnolia Manor, 194 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.
