Born in Bridgetown, Barbados, Mr. Hutchinson was a mechanical engineer for Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel in Miami Beach. Mr. Hutchinson is survived by his wife, Mary Hutchinson of Macon; 9 children, Richard Hutchinson (Joy), Onita Welch, Annette Milne, June Procunier, Donald Hutchinson (Gloria), Myra Tisdale (Scott), Janis Bradfield, Joel Bradfield, and Jeannette Brown (Alen); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 brothers, George Hutchinson (Jackie) and Patrick Hutchinson; and a sister, Marjorie Davies. Lionel Noel Hutchinson was a very young and active 90 year old who loved God, his wife, Mary, his 9 children and numerous grandchildren. He never partook of the bread of idleness. In his last decade of life, he travelled the world with his beloved. He loved life and seized every day with the knowledge that he was to run to the race set before him. He invested in his wife, Mary, with his time and showed her daily that he adored her. His hearts desire was to make her life easier. Many would say he accomplished that goal. He loved God and his church. His talent in gardening enabled him to share his bounty with many friends and family. To paraphrase Matthew 25, he was a good and faithful servant who when given charge over a little was able to multiply what he was given and was then given charge over much more. Lionel was a man of many talents and when possible, enjoyed helping fix the problem. His motivation and desire to seize the day began at an early age when as a teenager he helped take care of his family. On a morning before school, he would milk his cows and supply milk to the surrounding areas in order to help his family. After graduating high school, he took on the responsibility of running a rum distillery. However, he felt he needed more of an education so he emigrated from Barbados to Canada. In Canada, he worked a variety of jobs so he could support himself while going to school to become a mechanical engineer. Eventually, he received a degree in engineering which allowed him to use his skills in the hotel industry. He worked at the Royal York in Toronto, Canada and instituted practices that were ahead of their time. Lionel moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico where he became a United States Citizen. He began working for Sheraton Hotels and would be their "man on the spot" to help repair hurricane and earthquake damage to their hotels throughout the Caribbean. Lionel moved to Miami, Florida where he was the Property Operations Manager for the Fontainebleau Hilton on Miami Beach during the five day work week and worked his farm in Naples, Florida on weekends. He eventually retired from his day job and moved to Macon. Lionel greeted everyone with a smile and a joke. He managed to retain his boyish deviousness while being loving and supportive to those around him. He will not be soon forgotten because he left his mark on all that met him. We can only imagine that when he met his Lord, he was told "well done, my good and faithful servant". Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
