Linda Carla Walker

June 5, 1944 — January 4, 2024

Eatonton

Mrs. Linda Carla Walker, 79, of Eatonton, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024.  Funeral services will be at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel in Gray, Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00AM with the Reverend Gregory Lofton officiating.  Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon will follow the service.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Linda was raised by her loving grandparents, Granny and Pap, and began work as a secretary shortly after graduating from high school.  She was briefly engaged to her future husband at 16 years old. As fate would have it, years later they reconnected and Linda would marry her true love, Don Walker, in February of 1982.  She and Don owned and operated a warehouse together, D&L Enterprises until 2010.  Later, she worked as an office manager for Congregation Sha’arey Israel. Linda enjoyed watching old Westerns and settling in with a good romance novel.  More than anything, she loved her family and especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda is preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Estelle Hunnicutt; parents, Lucille and Emmett Thompson, Sr.; son, William Farran; son-in-law, Chad Taylor; and USMC Lance Corporal Jeffery Walker.  She is survived by her husband, James “Don” Walker; sons, James Donnie Walker, Jr. (Wendy) of Missouri; James David Walker (Beverly) of Illinois; daughters, Dorothy “Joanne” Whitener (James) of Jones County, Jennifer Mary Ann Schiller (Rob) of Seabeck, Washington, and Tracie Elaine Taylor of Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
