Linda is survived by husband Ronald “JB” Slade of Daytona Beach, brother James Foster (Gay Nell) of Mobile, AL; children Chris Hendrix (Tammy) of Williamston, SC, Ken Hendrix (Marcia) of Macon, GA, Jeffrey Carter (Audra) of Savannah, GA; step-children Michael Carter (Ashley) of Dothan, AL, Shannon Slade (Denise) of Palm Coast, FL, Rachael Peoples (Judd) of Atlanta, GA, Alicia Garcia (Brandon) of Daytona Beach, FL, Sarah Slade of Loganville, GA, and Preston Slade of Snellville, GA; grandchildren Kaitlyn Hendrix, Noah Hendrix, Nicole Hendrix , Mary Gaines Carter, Jason Slade, Canyon Slade, Paisley Slade, Conrad Garcia, Kennedy Garcia, Karson Garcia, and Brealyn Slade, many nieces and nephews, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Enid and Russell Hood and Andrew Foster as well as husband James Paul Carter.
Born in High River, Alberta, Canada, Linda moved permanently to the United States to Macon, Georgia in 1954. She attended Cynthia Weir and Whittle Elementary Schools, and she graduated from McEvoy Girls High School in 1966. She attended The University of Georgia and Wesleyan College. She was primarily a stay-at-home mom and substitute teacher while her children were in school. She worked for J C Penney at the Macon Mall for 21 years and retired from State Bank after working there for three years. She spent many years volunteering at Tattnall Square Academy highlighted by her work with the Track and Field programs. One of her most cherished activities was working on and organizing class reunions for McEvoy and Willingham High Schools. Her bonds with her classmates lasted from elementary school until her passing. She was at her best when surrounded by her beloved Sisterhood of McEvoy Scotties.
A memorial service was held on March 26, 2026, at Hart’s Memorial Chapel at the Cupola. A graveside ceremony and interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM for all who wish to attend.
