Lillian Solenberger Binner

Lillian Solenberger Binner, 92, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00am, at Christ Episcopal Church, with Reverend Cynthia Knapp officiating. A reception will follow the service. Lillian was born September 1, 1934, in Winchester, Virginia to the late Bernardine Knee Solenberger and Herbert Andrew Solenberger. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ronald Thomas Binner, and her daughter, Bernardine (Bee) Binner.

Lillian graduated from Handley High School in Winchester, VA and received a BA Degree in Education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.

After her marriage in 1957, Lillian followed in the footsteps of her husband making homes in Kure Beach, NC at Fort Fisher Air Force Base, then to Knoxville Tennessee, Spartanburg, SC, and Washington, DC with Norfolk Southern Railroad. She was happy to discover Macon in 1965 and finally call it home! In Macon, her husband started, owned and operated a metal processing business named Steel Services, Inc. This company provided a wide range of custom metal processing services to clients in the railroad, kaolin, bus manufacturing and many other businesses in the southeast.

Lillian worked for the Bibb County Board of Education for almost 25 years and spent most of her time at McKibben Lane Elementary and Springdale Elementary. Lillian always thought it was funny that while a stay at home mom, she watched both schools being built and then later was employed by both of them. Lillian was a member of Georgia Federation of Macon Woman’s Club, Macon Study Club, Four Season’s Garden Club, and McKibben Lane Retirement Club.

She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church for over 60 years and enjoyed membership as a Daughter of the King. Lillian looked forward to Bible Study and Healing Services on Wednesday mornings. As part of the Outreach Program, she served as a tutor for its “Path to Shine” Program in Lynmore Estates. Lillian also attended Holy Nativity Episcopal Church on St. Simons Island, Ga. where she had a home.

Lillian is survived by her son, Ronald Thomas Binner, Jr. (Jacqueline) of Bolingbroke, GA and two grandchildren, Jacob Cole Binner (Kallie) of Forsyth, GA and Tiffany Harkins Cloud, (Ethan) of Kathleen, GA. She is also survived three great grandsons, Peyton and Owen Aplin and Taylor Cloud all of Kathleen, GA. Other survivors are her sister, Helen Sharp (Donald) of Atlanta, GA, Sister-in Law Joyce Rickard (David) of Greensboro, NC, and Brother-in-Law Lewis Binner (Peggy) of Richmond, VA, many nieces and nephews and her beloved cats Bitsy Bubbles Binner and Precious Tiger Binner.
