Lewis Hamilton Shipman

Macon- Lewis Hamilton Shipman passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 2:00PM with the Reverend Ben Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Mr. Shipman was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he loved his church. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired after thirty-four years with the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Milner Baptist Church. Born in Macon, GA on September 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Lewis H. Shipman, Sr. and Mary Keel Shipman. Mr. Shipman is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lucille Hunt Shipman; a daughter, Angie Robertson (Dan) of Social Circle, GA and a son, Allen Shipman (Laura) of Orlando. FL; four grandchildren, Lauren Robertson, Alex Robertson, Amy Robertson and Leslie Shipman. Memorials may be made to Milner Baptist Church, P. O. Box 100, Milner, GA 30257.
