MACON, GA - Lesley Susan Kennedy Bennett died at home on July 2. Born in Monroe, LA, she was the daughter of Vaunita Bremer and John Kennedy. After graduating from Stratford Academy in Macon, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. When she returned to Macon, she worked for the Anne Tutt Art Gallery and established herself as a portraitist and engraver. Lesley was active in Historic Macon Foundation, where she volunteered her time for years for the annual Flea Market, the Intown Macon Neighborhood Association and was an avid supporter of Hay House. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gilbert Bennett, his children, Steve (Paula) Bennett and Kate Bilow; grandchildren, Stephen Bilow, Eric (Jennifer) Bilow, Christopher Bilow and India (Rick) Godfrey and great-grandchildren, Amber, Carah, Wesley Gilbert and William Bilow, and Peyton, Zack and Michael Godfrey. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine K. Walden, brother, W. M. Kennedy, nieces, Kathryn Kennedy and Lynn (Brian) Odom; nephew Charles D. (Amy) Lindley; grandnieces, Lily Walden and Rachel Walden and grandnephews, Philip Michael Walden, III, Jarrett Blythe Walden, and their mother, Melissa Burgess Walden; Ashley Kennedy, Brandon Ryals, Brice Odom and Brett Odom; aunt Laurice Vermillion and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her nephews, John L. Kennedy and Philip M. Walden, Jr. A Memorial Liturgy will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday, July 6, at 2:00 pm. Burial will be private at a later date. A reception will follow at the home of Katherine Walden, 177 Brookstone Way. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Historic Macon Foundation, Hay House, Intown Macon Neighborhood Association, any animal rescue organization or the charity of your choice.
