Lawrence Adams

Sep 15, 1949 — Jul 29, 2026

Lawrence Wayne "Larry" Adams, 76, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 15, 1949, Larry lived a life defined by faith, service, integrity, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 25 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. Following his military career, he continued a life of public service with the Georgia Department of Corrections until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Gray, Georgia.

Larry's greatest accomplishment was not found in his career but in the family he cherished. At the age of 18, he married the love of his life, Ann, who was just 16 years old. Together they shared 58 years of marriage built on love, commitment, faith, and perseverance. Their enduring devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who knew them.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a steadfast friend. His quiet strength, humble spirit, unwavering integrity, and dependable nature earned the respect and admiration of everyone whose life he touched. To his family, he was more than a husband and father—he was their hero, leading not only by his words but by the example of a life well lived.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ann Adams; his son, Scott (Kristi) Adams; his daughter, April (Dave) Horn; his grandchildren, David (Courtney) Collins, Logan (Leslie) Collins, Camden (Taelyn) Collins, and Olivia Adams; and four cherished great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends. Larry loved his son-in-law and daughter-in-law as if they were his own children, and his greatest joy was simply being surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Those who knew Larry will remember a man of quiet dignity, steadfast faith, and unconditional love. His legacy will live on through the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the countless memories his family will forever treasure. Though his earthly journey has ended, his family finds comfort in the promise that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior, free from pain and made whole.

A funeral service celebrating Larry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Hart's Mortuary in Gray, Georgia. Burial will be private at a later date.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who offered compassionate care, prayers, and support throughout Larry's illness.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
