She was a graduate of Tattnall Square Academy. Kristie was also the devoted mother of Tristan James Aderhold, who was the joy and pride of her life. She was the cherished daughter of Brenda Underwood Hamilton of Eatonton, Georgia, and John William Mixon, of Macon, Georgia. In addition, she was the older sister of Joshua William Mixon. Her family was an essential part of her life, providing her with the love and support that formed the foundation of her vibrant character. Kristie was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Richard "Duke" Vaughn. Their love story was one of deep connection and mutual respect, and it was a source of strength for Kristie throughout her life. Their bond was beautifully chronicled in many of Kristie's poems, a testament to their enduring love. A lover of animals, Kristie always had a house full of dogs. Her favorite, a Chihuahua, was so dear to her that she had it painted on the hood of her car. This love extended beyond her pets; she had a genuine appreciation for all creatures, recognizing the unique beauty and value in each one. Creativity was a defining characteristic of Kristie's life. She found solace and expression in poetry, writing about her loves, losses, and the world around her.
