Kenneth D Hagood

May 18, 1938 — March 2, 2015

Kenneth D. Hagood On Monday, March 02, 2015, our Lord blew out Kenneth D. Hagood's earthly candle and now it burns brightly in Heaven. The following is a tribute written by his wife who loved him with her whole heart. He may be gone from our sight, but he will never leave our hearts. Kenneth lived his life in service to others through his service in the National Guard, law enforcement, church, and most of all family. He was born in Macon, Georgia on May 18, 1938. His parents, James and Dorothy Hagood, predeceased him. He attended Dudley Hughes High School and Macon Junior College. Kenneth took great pride in being a police officer with the Macon Police Department for 32 years, rising through the ranks to achieve Major and Commander of the Traffic and Patrol Division. One of his outstanding accomplishments was graduating from the FBI National Academy. He also served with distinction for 27 years in the Army National Guard. He was a Master Mason since 1967 (achieving 33rd degree) and a proud member of Scottish Rite and Al Sihah Shrine Temple, where he was a former Treasurer. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, the Macon Exchange Club, the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Peace Officers Association. Kenneth revered God and attended regularly the services and Woodruff Sunday School Class at Riverside United Methodist Church. Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Hagood, who will always cherish him. His true legacy is his loving daughter, Kelly Hagood Burke (David); and two grandchildren, Adam and Katie Burke. He dearly loved his siblings, Larry Hagood, Wayne Hagood, Gwen Marconi, Lynn Hagood, and Pat Jones (recently deceased). Pall Bearers are Tommy Alston, Bill Vaughn, Gary Baker, Charles Bishop, Bill Abercrombie, Mark Cauley, Gene Clance, and Lyn Crawford. Visitation will be between 5:00-7:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, and a Funeral service at 1:00PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverend John Irwin officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial gifts to Riverside United Methodist Church are welcome. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
