Kenneth Neil Califf

January 28, 1951 — March 5, 2018

Ken Califf was called home to heaven on the evening of March 5, 2018. A beloved husband and devoted father, he is survived by his wife, Valorie Norris Califf, and daughters, Faith Califf Jameson (John) and Audrey Califf Trinidad (Jon). Ken received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Georgia Southern University. He was a dedicated employee of Brown & Williamson for 30 years, earning the distinction of being the only employee to witness the company's first and last days of production. He had a remarkable ability to repair and build many things, and he continued learning new skills throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was sharing his talents to support family, friends and his community. He enjoyed a lifelong hobby in radio electronics, an interest that began in high school and continued for over 25 years as an amateur radio operator. "K4PDQ Silent Key." Since retiring in 2006, he enjoyed traveling, photography and working on his property with his tractor. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, James Paul Califf, Jr. and Martha Bunn Califf; and his brothers, J.P. Califf III and Wayne Califf. Visitation will be held March 8, 6-8 p.m., at Hart's Mortuary in Gray. A funeral service will be held at Ingleside Baptist Church on March 9 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow.
