Kay Neal Metcalfe

Kay Neal Metcalfe, 80, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on May 31, 2025. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Hart’s at the Cupola. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, with the Reverend Kevin Mills officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Daughter of the late Henry Alton Wood and Tennie Bee Copeland Wood, Kay was born in Columbus, Georgia, on July 10, 1944. For many years she co-owned and operated Lamps By Ingleside, where she became fondly recognized as "The Lamp Lady" for her unmatched skill and keen eye for design. Beyond her business, Kay was an avid reader and had a passion for traveling and shopping.

Within her community, she was a member of Northway Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she lived it out in her everyday actions, spreading kindness and compassion wherever she went.

Kay will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Doug Metcalfe of Macon; daughters: Diane Whitehurst (Toby) of Columbus, Georgia, Melinda Ziegler (Cliff) of Macon, Janet Morgan (Mark) of Germany, and Tammy Hentze (Julian) of Macon; grandchildren: Natalie Chandler (Micah), Chelsea Zanders (Kerry), Olivia McCallum (Josh), Preston Whitehurst, Sarah Mathis (Andrew), Mallory Doan (Hannah), Melinda Kay Jones (Bug), Brandon Morgan, Ty Morgan, David Moring (Brittany), Casey Moring (Christina), Callie Moring (Anthony), Zac Hentze, and Bailey Hentze; eight great grandchildren: Brayden, Cannon, Ava, Carter Mae, Nora, Henry, Benny, and Evelyn; sister, Mary Lou Owens (Jerry) of Macon, many nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law, Gini Ellis (Don) of Macon and Deanna Metcalfe of Atlanta.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Neal; brother, Clyde Wood; and sisters, Barbara Ann Smith and Doris Howard (James).
