Katharine Mccook Bacon

July 18, 1926 — January 15, 2010

Katherine McCook Bacon, 83, of Macon died peacefully at home January 15, 2010. Mrs. Bacon was a native of Macon, a graduate of Miller High School and Mercer University. She was an educator in Atlanta and Gordon after graduation, and was a homemaker and volunteer for most of her life. She was a longtime member of VIneville Methodist Church and had been active in service and charity organizations in the Macon area. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Oscar and Katharine Reynolds McCook. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Paul Howard Bacon, Sr., her brother Daniel McCook, and sister Miriam Brewer. Survivors include sons Paul Howard Bacon, Jr. and wife Stacie of Savannah, GA, Kinney Chapman Bacon and wife Susan of Lawrenceville, GA, and Alan Joseph Bacon and wife Adrienne of Duluth, GA., granddaughters Katherine, Kerry, Lauren, and Patricia Bacon, step granddaughter Marie Provence, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank to Cora Willis, Catherine Woods, Deborah Waller, Ivory Smith, and Felicia Gordon for their companionship and loving care. Services will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Reverend Bill Garner will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Meals on Wheels Organization (www.mowaa.org), 1212 Gray Hwy. Macon, Ga. 31211-1996. Friends may sign the online register at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street has charge of arrangements.
