Kassiani Tsitouri Andros

September 22, 1930 — May 7, 2026

Kassiani Tsitouri Andros, 95, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, May 7, 2026. She was born on September 22, 1930, in the Greek village of Korischades in Evrytania, Greece. She was the daughter of the late Nick and Christina Tsitouri. Kassiani was predeceased by her loving husband, George Demetrios Andros; her four brothers, Demetrios Tsitouris, George Tsitouris, Pano Tsitouris, and Vasilios Tsitouris; and her stepdaughter, Monica Ohlhausen.

Kassiani, along with her four brothers, lost their parents at a young age. As a teenager, she survived the strife of the German occupation of Greece during World War II and the Greek Civil War. Kassiani met George Andros, the love of her life, in 1952. George had immigrated to the United States as a 14-year-old in 1929. After establishing himself in business as an owner of Nu-Way Wieners and serving in the United States Navy in World War II, George returned to Greece for a visit. Kassiani and George fell in love during that visit, and George promised to come back to Greece in three years for her hand in marriage. True to his word, George returned to Greece, and he and Kassiani were married in Athens.

At 27, Kassiani immigrated to the United States and settled in Macon. She was an active member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church and was honored with the Archangel Michael Award for her service to the ministries of the church. Kassiani served as vice president of Elliniko Fos (Greek Light) in Karpenisi, Greece. She was a long-time member and served as president and vice president of Sophia, Agape, Elpis Greek Ladies Club, a group that promoted participation in charities and helped to maintain social and cultural customs for its members. Kassiani worked selflessly for decades, alongside many others for her generation, making and selling Greek goods at the Cherry Blossom and Greek Festivals.

Kassiani was a passionate gardener and cook, and her garden provided the freshest ingredients for her lovingly prepared meals, which she regularly shared with friends and neighbors. She somehow kept up with her family’s voracious appetite for her delicious spanakopita (Greek spinach pie), and her home-made bread was featured in a Macon Telegraph article in 1972.

Kassiani was an avid walker, covering miles every day along her neighborhood route. She loved to sing and dance whether at a Greek wedding reception or at home with family or friends. Kassiani would kick up her heels, yell “Opa!,” and let loose with her famous whistle. She loved her family deeply, and her caring hugs and sweet laughter will be missed.

Kassiani is survived by her children, Maria Spicer (Greg) and James Andros (Terri); stepson, Victor Andros (Stephanie); grandchildren, Jason Spicer (Jennifer) and Chloe Morris (Sean); and great grandchildren: Wyatt Morris, Tennessee Morris, Washington Morris, and Indie Day Morris.

The family is grateful to all her caregivers, especially Ms. Georgia Bailey, the staff at The Phoenix at Lake Joy, and Brightmoor Hospice.
