Karen Sue Sauer

Ms. Karen Sue Sauer, 81, of Macon, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Karen was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Wayne and Bernice Steuerwald.  She graduated from Riley High School in Riley, Indiana in 1960, and completed nursing school at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Karen spent her career working in critical care areas of the hospital until she retired in 2019.  Fun-loving and always ready to take a road trip, she enjoyed visiting out-of-the-way antique shops. Karen was an avid reader.  She loved the sunshine and had a ball on her trips to Florida.  Karen served for a number of years as a case worker for the Red Cross.

In addition to her parents, Karen is deceased by her daughter, Kirsten Jones; and her brother, Bob Steuerwald.

Karen is survived by her son, Erik Sauer (Tressie) of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Avery Jones, Caroline Jones, Ava Sauer, and Ella Sauer; and several nieces and nephews.
