Karen Rebecca Clifton

Karen Rebecca Clifton, 78, of Macon, passed away October 3, 2017. Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Steffen and Dr. John Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church, 500 Bass Road, Macon, GA 31210. Miss Clifton was born October 14, 1938 in Macon, Georgia and attended Bibb County public schools, graduating from A.L. Miller High School and then from Mercer University. She taught mathematics at Gordon High School for boys in Macon. She was employed at Bank of America for 27 years. Miss Clifton was a member of Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church, the Genesis Sunday School Class, and the Roberta Gardiner Circle. She also served as organist at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church for 48 years, retiring in 2015. She was a member of Howard Community Club and Colaparchee Garden Club, serving as president of both organizations and was a member of the Morning Music Club and the American Guild of Organist. Miss Clifton volunteered at Macon Outreach at Mulberry, serving as secretary of the Board of Directors. She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels of Macon and Bibb County since February 1993. Miss Clifton is predeceased by parents, Roscoe Vardaman Clifton and Maidee Taylor Clifton. She is survived by several cousins and many friends. Please visit www.hartsmort.com to sign the registry.
