Julie Bearden Adams passed away at home on Sunday, May 14, after an almost 11-year battle with lung cancer. Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 18, at 11:00 o'clock a.m., followed by a private burial service at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Julie was born on September 13, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Harpeth Hall, and attended Sweet Briar College prior to marrying Tim Adams and moving to Macon in 1964. Julie was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served on the Altar Guild. For many years, she was an active member of the Fine Arts Committee of the Museum of Arts and Sciences and also served a term as President of the Board of the Museum. She was a former President of the Friends of the Library and Masqueraders and a former member of the Junior League of Macon. From 1990 to 2006, she was a partner in Tift-Adams Bridal Consultants. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Scott Bearden and Frances Bevington Bearden, and her beloved first grandchild, Kathryn Bevington Smith. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Timothy K. Adams, her four children, Margaret Adams Smith (Mike), of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Timothy Killen Adams, Jr. (Jodi), of Huntsville, Alabama, Jennifer Adams Fuller (Will), of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and Frances Adams Hawk (Jon), of Macon, and three grandsons and five granddaughters. She is also survived by her brothers, Walter S. Bearden, Jr. and John B. Bearden, both of Nashville, Tennessee. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, or the donor's favorite charity. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation and thanks to Alicia Alexander and Maria Waller for the loving care they gave to Julie over the last 11 months; and, also, thanks to Caring Companions.
