Julia Mcclure Pope

Julia McClure Pope died September 26, 2009 of heart failure and complications from a stroke. She was born in Clarkesville, Georgia,the youngest of nine children to James Leonard McClure and Drucilla Davidson McClure. Mrs. Pope was a retired lunchroom manager for Bibb County's Pearl Stephens Elementary School and an active member of the Church Loyalty Sunday School Class at First Street United Methodist Church until the church merged with Ingleside United Methodist Church several years ago. At that time she became a member of the Brake Sunday School Class at Ingleside. She loved God, her family and friends. After a disabling stroke in 2006, she resided at Wesley Woods Budd Terrace in Atlanta. The family wishes to thank the staff at Budd Terrace for their care over the last 3 ½ years and especially during the last three weeks. Julia Pope was pre-deceased by her husband, John Roy Pope, her parents and her brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Lillian Pope Train and husband, Comer, of Roswell,GA, and Ann Pope North and husband, Jack, of Villa Rica, GA. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Christina Train Pearson and husband, Price, of Smyrna, GA, Comer Train, III and wife, Lauren, of Warner Robins, GA and Jonathan Pope North and wife, Elise, of Athens, GA as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in the Chapel at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street in Macon, the Rev. Hugh Waldorf officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at 1 pm at Hart's. Interment will be at Macon Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the family at 1900 Ridgefield Drive, Roswell, GA 30075. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Ingleside United Methodist Church, 3187 Ridge Avenue, Macon, GA 31204 or the Foundation of Wesley Woods, Inc., with designation to the Budd Terrace Benevolent Fund, 1817 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
