Juanita Batchelor Dooley passed away on September 9, 2015 following a determined and courageous eight year battle with multiple myeloma. She was born in Macon, Georgia, on May 31, 1948 to the late Lucinda and Cordy Batchelor. She graduated from Jones County High School in 1966. She attended Middle Georgia College and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1970. She was a dedicated professional educator whose teaching career impacted both students and colleagues. She spent the majority of her career as a business education teacher at Monroe Area High School. She also served as the FBLA advisor to many who benefitted from her encouragement and direction. Ms. Dooley was an avid tennis fan and player. She established friendships through her play and competitions at Jennings Mill Country Club. Though her illness ended her time on the court, she continued to follow the sport locally and globally as a fan. She was a long-time friend, advocate, supporter, and volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, and the Northeast Georgia Cancer Foundation. She is survived by her brother, Ed (Diane) Batchelor; her aunt, Evelyn Farmer; niece, Ellen (Keith) Vinson; nephews, Jason Batchelor and Eric Batchelor; great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. In addition to family, she is also survived by her college roommate and dearest friend of forty-eight years, Gail B. Lester. A celebration of Juanita's life will be held in the chapel at Bernstein's Funeral Home on Saturday, September 12, at 11 a.m. following visitation at 10 a.m. Visitation in Macon will be held on Saturday, September 12, 6-8 p.m., at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, at Henderson Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Ellen Vinson.
