Joyce Cooper Leonard

Joyce Cooper Leonard, 88, died February 9, 2022, at The Cottages on Wesleyan in Macon, Georgia. An intimate graveside service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 1:00p.m. at Macon Memorial Park, located at 4101 Mercer University Drive. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, at a future date to be announced. She was born in Dublin, Georgia on October 16, 1933.

Joyce was the embodiment of God’s spirit, grace and love. She was a devout Christian, a loving mother and grandmother. She was a spiffy dresser, excellent cook, avid jigsaw puzzler, loved to read, and was always up for an afternoon game of cards with her friends. She had an extremely green thumb – her porch was always full of colorful plants and flowers. She was a longtime devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Joyful Believers Sunday School Class.

What she cherished most was time with her loving daughters, sister, grandchildren and great grandchildren with whom she shared great joy and lifelong memories filled with love, laughter, hugs and delicious home cooked meals prepared by her loving hands.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ray Leonard and parents, Elton Ellis Cooper and Lona Merle Moore Cooper.

Survivors to honor her memory include her three daughters Joy Johnson (Wayne), of Macon, Georgia, Debbie Leonard, of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Laurie Goin (Paul), of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, Stephen Johnson (Audrey), of Decatur, Georgia, and Shelley Johnson, of Mandeville, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Felix Rucker and Felicity Johnson; sister, Jeanelle Jordan, of Duluth, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6611 Zebulon Road, Macon, Georgia 31220.
