Joyce Whitehead Chafin

Emily Joyce Whitehead Chafin passed away at Carlyle Place on Sunday, September 07, 2008 after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 the Chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, Peake Road, with burial in Macon Memorial Park. She was born in Macon, Georgia on July 11, 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ira Odom and Emily Langley Odom, her husband of 37 years; Walter C. Whitehead Jr. and her husband of 7 years; Ralph W. Chafin. She was employed with Keebler Company for 34 years and was a member of East Macon United Methodist Church. She was the loving and devoted mother of four children, daughter, Brenda Haulik (Mitch) of Macon; sons, Walter C. Whitehead III (Dianne) of Hoschton, GA; Terry Whitehead (Kathy) of Gray; and Donald Whitehead (Melissa) of Gray; sister Bytha Clark of Macon and brothers Veston Odom and Billy Odom. She was also the grandmother of 11 grandchildren; Jennifer Stanfield, Larry Freeman. Shon Whitehead, Scott Whitehead, T.J. Whitehead, Emily Whitehead, Dylan Whitehead, Dori Whitehead, Erica Tarpley, Jessica Taylor and Ashley Whitehead and 10 great grand children. The family will receive friends from 5:30PM to 7:00PM on Monday at Hart's at the Cupola.
