Joyce Bowers

Joyce Bowers, 90, of Macon died June 29, 2017 at her residence. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:00PM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Box 18175, Macon, GA 31209. Mrs. Bowers was born May 25, 1927 in Albany, Ga, the daughter of Merle Shepherd Matthews and John Atwell Matthews. She graduated from Moultrie High School, attended the University of Georgia where she met her late husband Walter Harley Bowers and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan College. A 58 year resident of Macon, Mrs. Bowers was retired from BellSouth. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Friends of the Library and Historic Rose Hill Cemetery Foundation. Survivors include children, Clifford Harley (Deirdre) Bowers, Snellville; John "Jack" Wilson (Sharon) Bowers, Macon; Martha Clare Crigger (Jeff) McDonough; grandchildren Haley (Will) Herrington, Savannah; Laurel, Gaithersburg, MD; Taylor Willingham, Nashville, TN; Sommer Nixon, Buford; Stewart, Macon; Lindsey, Smyrna; Evan, Snellville; Phillip and Nolan Crigger, McDonough; and great grandson Lynwood Herrington, Savannah.
