Joseph Hugh Hudson

Joseph Hugh Hudson passed away on July 11, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210. A reception will follow the service and there will be a private burial at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, 42 Butts Road, Thomaston, GA 30286. Hugh was born on June 3, 1932, in The Rock, Georgia, in Upson County, to Edgar and Bera Hudson. He attended R.E. Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served honorably during the Korean War. He moved to Macon from Atlanta in 1962 where he became President of Ivan Allen Company for 34 years. He was an active member of the Elks Club, Idle Hour Country Club and was an avid supporter of InTown Macon and the Cherry Blossom Festival. In his later travels, he visited Puerto Rico, Brazil, Hawaii and Mexico. He has always enjoyed playing golf and watching golf tournaments, visiting St. Simons, working around his Lake Sinclair home and tending to his spectacular flower beds at his Bond Street home. He especially loved spending time with his three sisters, two sons, four grandsons, one great grandson and his many friends. Hugh is survived by his sons, Gregory Hugh Hudson (Gwen) of Lawrenceville, GA and J. Gary Hudson (Lisa) of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Hugh Hudson (Celena), Samuel Blake Hudson (Rebecca), John Hayden Hudson and Jacob Lee Hudson; great grandchild, Liam Hugh Hudson; sisters, Carolyn Roll (Butch) of Franklin, OH, Bessie Arnold (Jackie) of Thomaston, GA and Valette Jennings (Homer) of Berea, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
