Macon- Joseph Edgar Brantley, Sr., 86, of 5113 Jeffersonville Road, died Thursday, July 16, 2009. Services will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 3:00PM at Swift Creek United Methodist Church. The Reverend Leland Collins will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors at the graveside. The family may be contacted at 3627 Old Franklinton Road and will greet friends on Saturday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Mr. Brantley was predeceased by his parents John Green Brantley and Leila Inez Brantley and by his wife of more than sixty years, Martha Hinson Brantley. He was a member of Swift Creek United Methodist Church and was active in Sunday School. He was an artist. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in World War II and was a member of the "Last Man Standing" organization. Mr. Brantley is survived by his children, Janice Hortman (Steve), Joey Brantley (Paula), Debra Lavender (Tommy), and Glynn Brantley (Denise), all of Macon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
