Joseph Edward Blythe

Joseph Edward Blythe passed away suddenly on Christmas Eve. He was born October 25th, 1946 in Richmond, Virginia as the only child to Catherine and Robert Blythe. He grew up in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Wake Forest University in Economics in 1969 and completed his MBA at UGA in 1971.

Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan and loved going to sporting events with his family. He was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church. He was a career commercial loan officer and retired from BB&T in 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Hammock Blythe of Gray, Georgia. He is the father of three children Joseph Blythe, Jr., (Cristina) of Ponte Vedra, Florida. Christine Crampton (Sam) of Atlanta, Georgia. Greg Blythe (Mckenzie) of Atlanta, Georgia. He has two granddaughters, Madeleine and Isabelle Crampton.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00 PM  at Hart’s Jones County Chapel with the Reverend John Haney officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Methodist Home for Children & Youth Home.
