Joseph Batchelor

Joseph Batchelor, 76, of Gray, passed away Monday August 24, 2026. Funeral services will be held graveside, 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Fortville Cemetery with Dr. Ron McClung officiating.

Joe was born August 10, 1950, to the late Grady Berry Bachelor Sr. and the late Mary Mercer Batchelor in Haddock. Joe enjoyed traveling and driving across the country. When not traveling, Joe enjoyed breeding and showing bantam chickens, winning several awards for best in show. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, shooting skeet and target practicing.

Joe is survived by his nephews, Joe Smith (Debra) of Centerville, and Berry Batchelor (Darlene) of Haddock; cousins Cheryl Johnson (Don) of Haddock, Gary Bradley (Bonnie) of Doraville, Bonnie Jeanes (Bobby) of Gordon, Wendell Nichols (Bobby), of Gordon; longtime girlfriend Janice Scoggins of Eatonton, her son Greg Scoggins of Eatonton, close friend Mikey; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brother Grady Barry Batchelor Jr, his sisters, Martha Middleton and Mary Shepherd.
