Johnny Donaldson

Macon-Johnny M. Donaldson, a long time resident of Macon, GA, passed away in Columbus, GA on his 92nd birthday. Mr. Donaldson was born in Thomasville, GA on November 1, 1916. He was a retiree of Georgia Timberlands Corporation. Mr. Donaldson, who had always been involved with several Baptist churches during his lifetime, helped start Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA and was a charter member of that church. Prior to his death, Mr. Donaldson was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Christ in Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Allen Donaldson, his second wife, Lois Long Donaldson, his daughter, Shirley Ann Donaldson, and two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his son, John Allen Donaldson, and his wife, Martha, of Columbus, a granddaughter, Heather D. Shavers and her husband, Chris, of Columbus, a grandson, Bryan Allen Donaldson and his wife, Traci, of Columbus, and four great-grandchildren, all of Columbus. A graveside service will be held at Macon Memorial Park in Macon on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Dr. Bob Setzer will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Christ of Macon or to a charity of the donor's choice. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
