John Wright Smith

John Wright Smith; 92, of Lundy Ct. Macon, Georgia passed away Friday, September 24, 2010. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 27, 2010 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Reverend Jimmy Towson and Mr. Steve Wilson will officiate. A private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends after the service in the funeral home. Born in Cherokee, Texas, he was the son of the late Reverend John Dixon Smith and Pauline Wright Smith. He was a graduate of Young Harris College and attended Emory University and Mercer Law School. Mr. Smith was a retired attorney from Jones, Cork and Miller, where he was a partner for 52 years. He was a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church and a former member of the Macon Rotary Club. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Smith and sister, Althea Smith. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Hutchings Smith of Macon; Children, Linda Smith Bentley and John Dixon Smith, both of Macon; Grandchildren, Lauren Baker Rankin and Sallie Ann Smith; Great grandchildren, Scott and Lucy Rankin.
