John Edward Tucker, 88 of Macon, GA, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Hartley Bridge Road Church of Christ.
John was a graduate of Hahira High School, Class of ’51. John served his country in the United States Navy for 22 ½ years. After retiring from the Navy he worked in food service as the General Manager for Red Lobster and Shoney’s. John was an avid golfer, fisherman, and an award-winning cyclist.
John had the greatest love first and foremost for his Lord, wife, and children. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his JOY. He loved a good joke and loved to tease the ladies. He never met a stranger and made it his mission in life to make someone else happy or laugh, especially children. Most of all he was a great and good husband, the best father and most wonderful “PaPa” in the world.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelia Smith; parents, Jesse Earl Tucker and Mildred Durden Tucker; sisters, Dorothy Weldon and Velma Tyler; and brother, Gene Tucker.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Emma Christine Tucker; children, David Tucker (Kelly), Kathy Armstrong (Keith), son-in law, (Don Smith); grandchildren: Sommer Nixon (Josh), Haley Herrington (Will), Laurel Eady (Ben), Alyssa Mitchell (Tyler), Amanda Armstrong, and John Taylor Tucker; great grandchildren: Jade Marie, Conner, and Eva Nixon, Lynwood and Wilson Herrington, and Walter and Emma Eady; sister, Katherine King; and brother, Raymond Tucker.
