John Trimnell

February 14, 1948 — October 11, 2018

John Trimnell passed away peacefully in his home on October 11, 2018. Funeral services will be Monday, October 15, 2018 at 4:30PM at First Baptist Church of Gray with Reverend Randy Darnell officiating. Speakers will include Chuck Gibson and Linton Jordan. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray, Georgia. The family will greet friends on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel from 4:00PM-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donations to be made to the First Baptist Church of Gray Building Fund, 134 West Clinton Street, Gray, GA 31032 or Legacies Alive, 10 Carriage Trade Lane, Washington, PA 15301 or donate online www.legaciesalive.com.

John is predeceased by his daughter, Jessica Trimnell; his parents Clarence and Irene Trimnell; and his mother-in-law, Joyce B. Guy.

John was born in Shelbyville, Indiana and served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Hauser High School in Hope, Indiana and Valdosta State University, where he also played basketball. John earned a master’s degree and specialist degree in Education from West Georgia University. He was an educator for a total of 38 years in Camden County, Cedartown and Jones County. John was a member, a Deacon and he was the Sunday School Superintendent of First Baptist Church of Gray. He also drove the bus for the senior citizens, “Young at Heart” for First Baptist Church. John was a faithful servant to his family and his community. He wore “many hats” in Jones County. Many will remember him as the Principal of Jones County High School for 25 years. After retirement he continued to serve as the bus driver for field trips, grounds keeper at the Jones County High School, and one of the Jones County High School faithful supporters. John was a devoted and loving husband and father.

John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joy Trimnell; daughter, Jennifer Trimnell Davis (Brent) of West Point, New York; sister, Sherry Moore (Kenny) of Madison, Georgia; father-in-law, Wayne Guy of Glen St. Mary, Florida; and many extended families that include his brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
