Son of the late John Alois Emig and Dorothy Wallace Emig, Ted was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 23, 1943. He proudly retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after a distinguished career. Following his military service, he continued contributing to his community through his work at Mercer University for more than a decade, and later with the Jones County Board of Education, where he worked repairing computers for many years.
Ted was a dedicated member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and found great joy in serving others. He was active with the Georgia Master Gardeners Association, sharing his love of gardening and the outdoors. Ted knew no strangers and always had a kind word or compliment for anyone he encountered. His yard that he manicured into a park like setting was a great pleasure for him. He fiercely loved his family, especially his one and only grandson and namesake John.
Ted is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julie C. Emig of Macon; daughters, Traci Emig of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, and Sara Meyers (Stan) of Kathleen, Georgia; grandson, John Meyers of Kathleen, Georgia; brother, Glenn E. Emig of Stevensville, Michigan; sister, Letitia Carter of Lexington, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
