John "Mike" Mcmanus

Mike McManus went to be with his Heavenly Father Monday, March 5, 2018. Services will be at 2:00 Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Riverside United Methodist Church, 735 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia with Reverend Steve Waldorf officiating. Visitation will be held in the Gathering Place of Riverside United Methodist Church one hour before the service. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted but those wishing to donate to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, GA 31203 will also be appreciated. After graduating from Central High School in Macon, Mike worked for Riverside Cemetery for several years and later for YKK Zipper Company. Mike was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the ARC Community for several years and had many friends there. He was on the Sailing Team and participated in the Sailing Regatta each year. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and table tennis with Special Olympics. He loved fishing with his friends. He went to camp in Alabama several summers. Mike loved to go on cruises with his mother, Geri-any ship, anywhere. Mike was not in good health for several years. His eyesight failed due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, but he never gave up. He was presently living with RHA. Mike is survived by his mother and step-father, Geri McManus Peterson and Doug Peterson; sister, Laurie McManus English (Don); and nephew and niece, Stephen and Ashley English. He is predeceased by his loving dogs, Cassie and Ginny. Mike had many pets in his life and they were all very special to him. He was especially good with them.
