John Richard Marshall passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. He was born February 8, 1945, in Arcadia, Florida to Francis Richard Marshall and Leona Foster Marshall. He was preceded in death by both parents and his beloved wife of 46 years, Doris Gail Penland Marshall; and nephew, Clodualdo G. Garcia, III.
John is survived by six siblings, sisters: Catherine Garcia (Jose Padilla) of Evans, Georgia, Francis Roberts (Daniel) of Pearson, Georgia, Marguerite Carlan (Donald) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; brothers: Edward Marshall (Susan) of Atlanta, Georgia, Raymond Marshall (Letitia) of Romney, West Virginia, and Daniel Marshall of Cape Canaveral, Florida. There are nineteen nieces and nephews.
The Marshall Family moved to Warner Robins, Georgia in 1949. John attended St. Joseph School, Macon, Ga. He graduated from Sacred Heart School, Warner Robins and Mount de Sales Academy, Macon, Ga 1963 in the first Co-Ed Class.
John enlisted in the US Army in 1963, deployed to Germany, serving in the Davy Crockett Section: (Atomic Weapons) H&H Co., 3rd Battalion, 36 Infantry, 3rd Armored Division as Specialist E-5h Class. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Medal for Rifle. John had the privilege to make the 1964 Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes, France.
After mustering out of the US Army, in 1966, He became employed by Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company as a Frame-man. He retired from Bell South as an Electronic Technician with 36 years of Service. He was a member of the Bell South Pioneers. John enjoyed creating Miniature Dioramas of Military Lead Soldiers.
John and his wife, Gail were Eucharistic Ministers at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church 1985-1988. John has been a faithful Parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Macon, Georgia serving as an Usher for years.
John was a Life-Time member, 3rd Degree of Knights of Columbus, Council #4371 and Sir Knight of the 4th Degree, Sacred Heart Assembly #179, Warner Robins, Ga.
A visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary following at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Hart's on Cherry Street. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery with Knights of Columbus and Military Honors.
