John “Johnny” Charles Berta, Jr.

John “Johnny” Charles Berta, Jr., 63, of Gray, Georgia, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Son of John Charles Berta, Sr. and the late Joyce Wease, Johnny was born in Menominee County, Michigan on July 28, 1962. Johnny spent his career as a dedicated Plant Construction Maintenance Operator, where his colleagues knew him as a man who could fix anything with his hands. His expertise and work ethic were unparalleled, earning him respect and appreciation in his field.

Outside of work, Johnny was an outdoorsman with a passion for welding, hunting, and fishing. His love for outdoors led him on countless adventures in the woods and lakes, where he found a particular thrill in hunting for Native American artifacts.

Johnny is survived by his two sons, Kody (Mikaela) and Kaden Berta; father, John Berta Sr. (Ginger); sister, Kim Haskins; and brothers, Sean Berta and Ross Berta.

In addition to his mother, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister, Ashley Wease.
