John Ira Hicks -MACON - John Ira Hicks, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 5, 2009, in the Hart's Mortuary chapel on Cherry Street. The Reverends James Skipworth and Lee Bennett will officiate. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Cross Keys United Methodist Church, 1825 Jeffersonville Road, Macon, GA 31201. -Mr. Hicks, son of the late Johnnie Green Hicks and Anna Marie Hicks, was born in Swainsboro, GA. When Warner Robins Air Force Base was originated in 1942, he began his career in Air Logistics. He remained employed there for 32 years and retired in 1974. John lived in Macon, GA for 68 years where he married Tiny Hicks who preceded his death in 1998. He was a member of Cross Keys United Methodist Church in Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by sisters, Rubie Usry and Iris Swymer, and brother, Robert Hicks. -He is survived by his children, Cathy Hicks (Ted) Hyde, Macon, GA, Jeane (Bill) Skipworth of Jackson, MS, and Billie Jo (Gary) Mallios of Maynardville, TN; Sister, Doris (James) Purvis of Warner Robins, GA; Brother, James Roy (Pat) Hicks of Macon, GA; Sister, Marie Steele of Cartersville, GA; Sister, Mable Duckworth of Warner Robins, GA; Sister, Helen (Bob) Norman; six grandchildren, Melinda Skipworth White, James Skipworth, Mary Skipworth, Tippy Hyde Lunsford, Todd Hyde, Tara Hyde Spillers; and 11 great grandchildren.
