John Benjamin Fountain, 82, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street at 2:00PM. The Reverend Steve Hamrick will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Mr. Fountain was born in Jeffersonville, GA to the late William Curry Fountain and Martha Lois Fountain and graduated from Mercer University with a degree in history. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base and a member of Hillcrest Methodist now Heritage at Bass. John enjoyed coaching little league football and baseball at Vine-Ingle and also volunteering for others. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia King and Betty Bowen.
He is survived by his siblings; Martha Bozeman of Cochran, GA, William Curry Fountain, Jr. of Miami, FL, Sandra Bullard of Canton, GA and Claude Fountain of Jasper, GA; companion, Thelma Collins; her children, Emory (Candy) Collins, Noel Collins and Daryl (Amy) Collins; and her grandchildren; Brent Tucker and Jamie Collins and Natalie and Leila Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
