John L. Carswell, Jr.

John L. Carswell, Jr. 70, of Macon, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012. A memorial service will be at 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola. J.W. Little will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210; Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, 1415 Bass Road, Macon, GA 31210; or the donor's favorite charity. Born in Macon, he was the son of the late John Lindsey Carswell Sr. and Sara Long Mercer Carswell. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1960. He attended Middle Georgia College and LSU Banking School. Mr. Carswell was executive vice-president of Georgia Bank and Trust and vice-president of Fairfield Financial. He was a member of the Macon Civic Club and Idle Hour Country Club. Mr. Carswell is survived by his wife, Judy Fitzgibbons Carswell of Macon; daughter, Catherine Carswell of Macon; son, John Lindsey Carswell III of Macon; grandson, Daniel Eberhardt III; sister, Dot Little (J.W.); brother, Bob Carswell (Judy); nephew and nieces, Jay, Laurie and Sara Lynn Little, and Tucker Carswell; step mother-in-law, Mildred Fitzgibbons, and the Fitzgibbons family, the Abernathy family, the Hurt family, and the Kaye family; and many nieces and nephews-in-law.
