MR. JOSEPH TALMADGE “JOEY” STUCKEY, age 53, of Macon, GA, passed from this life and entered heaven on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
A visitation will be held from 5:00PM-7:00PM Monday, October 26, at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Tuesday, October 27, at Rhine Baptist Church, 92 East Street, Rhine, GA, with Bishop Dwight Pennyman officiating. A private committal service will be held in Riverside Cemetery.
Joey was born in Green Cove Springs, FL on May 29, 1973, to Reva Jones Stuckey and Talmadge Stuckey. At the age of 2, Joey suffered from a devastating brain tumor that doctors believed would take his life. He surpassed all odds, and survived the ordeal, but was left blind. But blindness did not deter him from a life full of joy and triumphs. He graduated from high school at the age of fourteen and later attended Mercer University, where he studied History, Communications, and Music.
Joey harnessed his love for music to help influence his life, offering him an additional way to bond with people. He owned Shadow Sound Studio in downtown Macon, which just celebrated its 30th anniversary. Throughout his career, Stuckey was recognized as a performer, producer, mentor and educator. Among his honors were Jazz Artist of the Year at the Georgia Music Awards, multiple awards from the Atlanta Society of Entertainers, and a reader’s choice award for singer-songwriter from 11th Hour Magazine. His work crossed genres and took many forms, from live performances and studio projects to teaching and public speaking. Alongside making music, Stuckey devoted himself to helping others understand sound and recording.
Joey was preceded in death by his father-in-law, David LaVerne Tade, paternal grandparents, Dora Belle Hardy Stuckey and John D. Stuckey, maternal grandparents, Jobyna Newman Jones Hoopes and Joseph Clarence Jones, and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his Wife of 23 years, Jennifer Denise Tade Stuckey of Macon; Mother and Father, Reva Joyce Jones Stuckey and Talmadge Stuckey, both of Macon; Mother-in-law, Evelyn Doan Tade of Nashville, TN; Sister-in-law, Jacqueline Tade Hatcher of Nashville, TN; Nephews, Hunter Rocha and Caleb Hatcher; Aunt Jill Stuckey of Plains, GA and Uncle, Gregory Jones (Jenny) of Macon; Several cousins including a special first cousin, Jen Stuckey McLendon, who Joey affectionately called “Aunt Jen”.
The family may be contacted at the Stuckey residence, 171 Rivoli Ridge Drive, Macon, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate/ or Music Cares, www.musicares.org.
