Joe Walker “Jay” Lasseter, Jr.

Joe Walker “Jay” Lasseter, Jr., 62, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 3, 2025, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, with the Reverend Bob Moon officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Son of the late Joe Walker Lasseter, Sr. and Daryl Tumlin Lasseter, Jay was born in Macon on March 23, 1963. He was a 1982 graduate of First Presbyterian Day School and went on to earn his degree from Valdosta State University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Jay had a deep passion for sailing and was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was also known for his excellent cooking - especially on the grill - where he loved to cook for family and friends.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Shuford Lasseter of Macon; stepson, Matthew Bryant; sisters, Chris Peake of Nashville, Tennessee and June Meeks (Bill) of Milledgeville, Georgia; nine nieces and nephews: Anne Fruetel (Jon), David Peake (Mary Beth), Daniel Peake (Niharika), Steven Peake (Carol Ann), John Peake (Caroline), Andrew Peake (Michelle), Matt Meeks (Katie), Sam Meeks (Taylor), and Macy Meeks; twenty three great nieces and nephews; three cousins: Laine Bolton, Lee Lasseter, and Lyn Teal; and many friends that were like family.
