Joanne Funderburke

Joanne Christine Funderburke, 87, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Christian Home Baptist Church, with Reverend David Clark officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Daughter of the late William Thomas Martin, Sr. and Brooks Whittle Martin, Joanne was born on June 9, 1937, in Pitts, Georgia.  Joanne was a great seamstress and made lots of her daughter’s clothing when she was young. Her passion for quilting was matched only by her adoration for Christmas, a time that seemed to capture her spirit of giving and joy.

Joanne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan F. Peterson (Don) of North Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren: Ken Peterson of Apex, North Carolina; and Keith Peterson (Lori) of Gainesville, Georgia; and great grandchildren: Brandon Peterson, Simon Peterson, Allyson Peterson, Connor Peterson, and Abigail Peterson.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Funderburke.
