Joann (Avant) Pruett

Ms. Joann Pruett, 81, of Gray, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 2:00PM at Elam Baptist Church with Jeff Stark officiating. The family will greet friends at 12:30PM before the service. Interment will follow the service at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray.

Ms. Pruett was married for 32 years to her first love, Toby Young, with whom she started her family. After Mr. Young’s passing, she was re-married to Marvin E. Pruett, whom she met square dancing. Ms. Pruett loved antiques and home renovations. She loved to play the piano and dancing at the Old Clinton Opry. Most of all, she loved her family.

Ms. Pruett is preceded in death by her first husband, Toby Young; her second husband, Marvin Pruett; and her siblings, Marvin Avant, Maitland Bloodworth, Jean Veasey and Forace Avant. She is survived by her sons, Bryan Young (Cheryl), of Gray, John Young (Erica), of Jefferson, Georgia, James E. Pruett (Rayna), of Lizella, Georgia; daughters, Andrea Riley (Albert), of Gray, and Johanna Asbell (Steven), of Gray; grandchildren, Adam Riley, Seth Riley, Anna Young, J.T. Young, Stephen Powell, Brian Powell, Chelsey Asbell, Caitlyn Whitehead, Cam Asbell, Kristen Lawhorn, Michelle Hendricks, Melissa Thrasher; sisters, Lanette Bryant and Ellen Lashley, both of Gray; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
