Joan Bailey Speidel

Joan Bailey Speidel, 79, of Macon, GA passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2015. Cherished sister of Judy Jones (Hulen); beloved mother to Mike Harrison, Catherine Tiersten (Michael), and Amanda Manker; grandmother to Alex and Caroline Harrison and Brandon Manker; aunt to Leslie, Keith, Scott, and Kyle; and widow of William C. Speidel. Joan was an English and Latin teacher whose love of learning led her to travel the world with her husband and friends. A graduate of Shorter University 1957, Joan and her best friends from college kept in touch over the years with a chain letter that continues to this day. A woman of quiet strength, she lived her life with grace and dignity, particularly in her long battle with dementia. The family will greet visitors on Monday July 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 at Carlyle Place on Zebulon Road in Macon, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
