Joan Evans Adams

d. December 20, 2013

Joan Evans Adams, born May 21, 1956 in Griffin, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 20, 2013 after a long, courageously fought battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00AM at First Presbyterian Church, Macon, GA with Reverend George W. Miller officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, on Sunday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Day School, 5671 Calvin Drive, Macon, GA 31210. Mrs. Adams was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pines and Peaches Garden Club, Nathaniel Macon Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and sustaining member of the Junior League of Macon. She was a devoted cheerleading coach at First Presbyterian Day School for many years. She was happiest while spending her time at the beach and lake with her family because in her words, she felt cancer "doesn't live in either place". She was forever thankful to the following doctors: Taylor Coppage, Linda Hendricks, Collier Gladin, Mick Anderson, Keith Martin, Shahriar Sedghi, and Michael MacFee (Augusta, Georgia), as well as their very competent nurses and staff, who helped prolong her life through their knowledge and expertise. The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Pine Pointe Hospice for their excellent care. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Marian B. and Gerald L. Evans, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Wade T. Adams, Sr.; her children, Jennifer Adams Rives (Syd) of Marietta, Georgia, W. Taylor Adams, Jr. (Jessica), and Jonathan Tyler Adams; her siblings, a devoted twin sister, Jan E. Ursitti (Martin), Gerald L. Evans, Jr. (Julie), Judy E. Hendricks (Todd), and Jeffrey A. Evans, Sr.(Kandra), all of Macon; her precious granddaughters, Riley Margaret Rives and Amelia Lois Adams; along with many nieces and nephews. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
