JoAlice Patterson, 65, passed away after a courageous 15 month battle with metastasized breast cancer on June 1, 2024 in Braselton, Georgia. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary in Macon, Georgia with the Reverend Joe McDaniel officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Riverside Cemetery in Macon, Georgia.
JoAlice was born on December 3,1958 in Macon Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree with a double major in political science and religion from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in political science from Georgia State. She was an active member of the Junior Leagues of DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties.
JoAlice loved to cook. She was a master baker, and nothing brought her more joy than cooking for her friends and family and sharing her mother’s cherished recipes. She especially enjoyed making Christmas treats for friends and family in the homes of of her “Ya-Ya” sisters.
JoAlice was the only child of Judge William Joseph Patterson, Jr. and Alice Pauline Justice Patterson. She is preceded in death by both her parents, her cousin, Melvin “Chip” Yates, Jr, and her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
She is survived by her only child, Patrick Joseph Welton of Lawrenceville, Georgia. She is also survived by her life partner and best friend of over 42 years, Steven Tisma of Braselton, Georgia; Godchildren, Jon Tisma of Miramar Beach, Florida and Kari Tisma of Wartrace, Tennessee; cousins, Melvin “Trey” Yates, III and Allison Yates both of Macon, Georgia, Beverly Mangrum of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Ruth Story Holt of Marietta, Georgia; and a multitude of devoted women friends.
JoAlice was a faithful and loyal friend. She will be forever remembered by the countless friends and acquaintances who were blessed to know her. She touched the lives of many people with her beautiful smile and generosity, and she maintained her trademark spiritedness and spunk throughout her whole life.
A special and grateful thanks to her devoted caretakers at the Phoenix of Braselton and Hospice of Northeast Georgia. She loved you all!
