Jo Ann Meeks Otto

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Jo Ann Meeks Otto, 85, on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was born in Macon on November 20, 1938, and was the daughter of Joe B. Meeks and Annie Mae Roberts Meeks.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Fred Otto, and her daughter, Kathryn Ann Otto.

Jo Ann was a retired realtor, having worked for Fickling and Walker, Inc. and Joe Meeks Realty Company.  She was a member of the Macon Board of Realtors and the Women’s Council of Realtors.  Mrs. Otto had been on the Executive Board of the Family Council for Gracewood in Augusta.  She was a 1956 graduate of A.L. Miller High School in Macon.

Jo Ann and Fred enjoyed trips in their motor home.  She liked to play bridge and really enjoyed having fun with her family.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins, and a previous member of Highland Hills Baptist Church in Macon.

Jo Ann is survived by her son, Fred Otto, Jr. (Robin) of Bonaire, Georgia; grandson, Joseph Otto (Mallory) of American Falls, Idaho; and granddaughter, Julia Austin (Jack) of Durham, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hart’s Mortuary Chapel of the Cupola, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 2:00PM, officiated by Dr. Jody Long.  The family will greet friends following the service.  Burial at Riverside Cemetery will be private.
