J.K. Mccook

J.K. McCook passed away on March 18, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church 3400 Gray Hwy. Gray, GA 31032. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral hour. Rev. Kim Washburn will officiate. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery in Gordon.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann Youngblood McCook,  his children Sherryll Young, Keith (Nancy) McCook, Craig (Michele) McCook, and Deirdre (Randy) Sowell, his grandchildren Morgan Murphy, Brittney (Adam) Cox, Kristen McCook, Maura (JJ) Collins, Ashlyn McCook, Rebecca (John) Saye, Georgia (Ben) Pattison, Cameron McCook, Andrea (Thomas) Sammons, Jared Sowell, and Gabrielle Sowell, his 5 great-grandchildren Magnolia Saye, Brice Saye, Clayton Saye, Ryan Cox, and Everett Collins and 3 great grands along the way, his sister-in-law Glenda Youngblood Simmons and many nieces and nephews.

He was retired from the United States Postal Service engineering department as a facilities specialist after working there for 35 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Elam Kingery and Mary Callie McMullen McCook and brother Norman McCook.
