Jimmy D. Benson, Sr.

Jimmy D. Benson, Sr., 72, of 7247 Rivoli Road, died Monday, February 9, 2009. Services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. The Reverends Steve Johnson and E. Y. Stokes will officiate. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312 or to the American Heart Association, 3312 Northside Drive, 140-A, Macon, GA 31210. Mr. Benson was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church for more than fifty years and a member of the J. C. Johnson Sunday School Class. He and his wife brought great joy to many people's lives in Middle Georgia being the owner of Benson Promotions and promoting all the best Southern Gospel music to the area. A resident of Macon since 1956, he had been in the finance business for more than fifty years in downtown Macon. Mr. Benson is survived by his wife, Pat Benson of Macon; stepson, W. Zane Vance (Tonia) of Macon; grandson, Will Vance of Macon and step-grandson, Dalton Newman Macon; sister, Shirley Goff (Carlton) of Albany, GA; several nieces and nephews; sons, Duward Benson and Dwayne Benson, both of Macon.
