Ms. Jewel McNeal, 96, of Jones County, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024. Graveside services will be at Magnolia Park Cemetery, Monday, August 19, 2024 at 11:00AM, with the Reverend Doctor Tommy Jordan officiating. Family visitation will be at Hart's Mortuary Jones County Chapel, Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 3:00PM.
Jewel was born at home in Jones County to the late Homer and Princess Chiles. She was a graduate of Jones County High School and a faithful member of Haddock Baptist Church. Jewel was very active and artistic. She was an excellent seamstress who sewed all her own clothes. Jewel loved country music and enjoyed traveling to music venues throughout the Southeastern states to see her favorite artists. Jewel worked for many years as a clerk at Robins Air Force Base, but her most important work was as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Ms. McNeal was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur McNeal; brothers, Homer Chiles, Jr. and Joseph D. Chiles; and her son, David Alan McNeal.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Hatcher of Haddock; two grandchildren, A.J. McNeal and Courtney McNeal, both of Macon; several nieces and nephews; caregiver of seven years, Lynn Barton; and her beloved furbaby, Lucy.
